ABOUT JESS

Jessica Marie Gutierrez Guzman — Chairwoman of Powered by Jess | President, Benivita™ | Founder of CER™ | International Speaker & Author

Jessica is a seasoned marketing and communications executive with more than two decades of experience leading high-impact campaigns, generating global media coverage, and driving multimillion-dollar sales growth. She has produced over $1 billion in free press and publicity across leading magazines —including Vogue, InStyle, O, Vanity Fair, Glamour, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today—as well as television, film, and digital platforms with high user visibility, while directing marketing campaigns that have delivered more than $60 million in sales.

Raised in Houston, Texas, Jessica earned her Bachelor’s in International Business from the University of Houston at 21. Her career accelerated when she was recruited by Farouk Systems, Inc., the billion-dollar company behind CHI and BioSilk. As one of the youngest executives in the company’s history, she worked directly with founder Farouk Shami in her role as Director of Marketing and Public Relations, while also serving as Managing Editor of CHI Magazine, an international publication distributed in more than 100 countries. For over six years as the founder’s right hand, she directed dozens of commercials and photo shoots—including a Miss USA production now with 55,000+ views on YouTube—and secured front-page coverage in The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. She also landed Farouk on CNN Money, FOX Business, and three seasons of Celebrity Apprentice, where he and his company were featured as the star brand for the full hour, with celebrity contestants tasked to design campaigns for his products alongside Donald Trump. Beyond traditional press, Jessica secured national television and film placements that put Farouk’s brands in the hands of virtually every major A-list celebrity of the era — from Jessica Alba and Miley Cyrus to Michael Jackson and many more — amplifying the company’s portfolio of brands’ cultural relevance across Hollywood and global pop culture. She also played a pivotal role in political strategy, helping capture over 87% of the Latino vote during Shami’s gubernatorial campaign.

Her expertise and influence were recognized when Harvard University’s Kennedy School invited her to help launch its first Latino Leadership Initiative, a groundbreaking program designed to advance Hispanic representation in positions of power. Over the years, Jessica has shared spaces with some of the nation’s most respected figures, including Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, President Barack Obama, Beyoncé, Mark Cuban, Jonathan Tisch, and Paul Chávez, son of civil rights leader César Chávez. She is also the creator of The Hispanic Blog, nominated twice by South by Southwest and Univision’s Social Revolución.

Jessica later became Director of Public Relations for FHI Heat, an international beauty brand, where she spearheaded partnerships with NBC’s Extra and led a nationwide children’s cancer awareness campaign with celebrities such as Magic Johnson, Gene Simmons, Ryan Seacrest, the cast of Modern Family, and the World Boxing Council, raising over $100,000. During her tenure at FHI Heat, she also starred in a television pilot alongside two other Latina publicists, highlighting the trailblazing role of Latinas in entertainment PR. She orchestrated cross-promotions with One Direction during their U.S. tour, partnered with New York, Los Angeles, and Miami Fashion Weeks, and secured high-visibility product placements on Ellen DeGeneres’ 12 Days of Giveaways. A signature achievement was spearheading a cross-promotion with Extra at the Movies alongside Mario Lopez, placing the FHI Heat brand in 1.2 million hotel rooms nationwide—so guests were greeted with the brand each time they turned on their television. Her contributions were further recognized by the Television Academy for the Primetime Emmy Awards, honoring her for her role in Saturday Night Live’s Outstanding Hairstyling.

After the sale of FHI Heat in 2020, Jessica redirected her expertise to support her husband’s ventures in real estate, private equity, and beauty distribution during his recovery from a life-altering injury. Demonstrating her trademark resilience, she guided operations while expanding her vision for a new chapter in healthcare accessibility.

Today, Jessica serves as President of Benivita™, a mission-driven telehealth company committed to delivering affordable, bilingual, and culturally relevant healthcare solutions to underserved communities, particularly Latinos. In addition to her leadership role at Benivita™, she returned to a passion she has carried since her twenties—behavioral science—and developed Cognitive Emotional Repatterning™ (CER), a proprietary 7-phase method designed to help high-achieving women rewire subconscious patterns that limit performance by working directly with the nervous system. She is currently preparing the forthcoming publication of her first book, Unpatterned, which examines the CER methodology and its application in driving personal and professional transformation.

Jessica’s career reflects a consistent throughline: breaking barriers, building brands, and creating access—whether to opportunity, healthcare, or human potential.
